Elmwood Village Creative (EVC) has continued to grow as a cooperative office environment (see background) with a broad range of tenants. Recent additions to the roster include Buffalo Outdoor Education and Vested Ventures. That means that the second floor of the building is almost fully occupied and it’s time to show off the space for the first time. Tim Bouchard, Program Director at Luminus Media has been working with building owner Horizon Realty to host the floor’s first showing.
This evening, EVC and Luminous Media invite you to come and see the work of University at Buffalo artist Renee Wok in a rather unique new setting (tonight – Friday 4/1/11 6-9pm). So often, our young artists are limited when it comes to gallery space at high profile venues. It was Tim Bouchard who, upon moving into EVC, inquired if he could utilize the main hallway of the collaborative to publicly promote the works of artists on a rotating basis.
Not long after the hallway was transformed into an artists’ hall, the owners of ReImagine on Elmwood (see post) were retained by Horizon to come up with a similar concept schematic for the third floor – something that they have been working over past weeks. That means that when the last two creative offices on the second floor are occupied, work will begin on the additional floor doubling the size of EVC. Current occupants at EVC* are:
