The Five Corners intersection will become a bit more people-friendly if plans prepared by Remedy House get approved. Andrew Trautman of Remedy House has applied for an encroachment permit from the Department of Public Works to add hardscape at the Rhode Island Street and West Utica Street intersection in front of the coffee shop that would include decorative pavers and multiple seating areas. The plan also calls for a new trash enclosure along West Utica and an outrigger-style flag pole extending from the building over the sidewalk at the corner.
According to Andrew Trautman, co-owner of Remedy House, “The project was all possible because of the Erie County Storefront Revitalization Grant. Remedy House, Paradise Wine, and Urban Roots all got it and are making some huge improvements. It’s a cool program and hopefully they continue it.”
The Planning Board will be reviewing the plans on Tuesday. Arch & Type designed the project.
