Curious Elixirs are alcohol-free, and Curious No. 7 was specifically made for memorable moments This is precisely why we decided to pop in for brunch to introduce: Curious Elixirs No. 7 (in limited release.) Elixir No. 7 is a riff on the French 77 making it perfect for celebrating a broad spectrum of life’s big moments to small self-care spa days. It is a non-alcoholic play on the French 77 cocktail. If all this sounds foreign, stick with me as I break that down:
The French 77 is a spin on the classic French 75 cocktail using elderflower liqueur, created by Simon Difford in 2006. Most sources say the original French 75 was invented in 1915 at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, earning its name because it was as powerful as a French 75mm field gun. In 1919, Harry MacElhone published The ABC of Mixing Drinks, in which he listed a recipe for a drink called a French 75 and credited a bartender named “MacGarry” of Buck’s Club in London. The cocktail was identical to a Tom Collins (gin, lemon, sugar, soda), substituting champagne for soda water. The French 75 calls for 1-ounce gin, 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2-ounce simple syrup, 3 ounces champagne (or other sparkling wine), and a lemon twist for garnish.
In the same family, we have the Champagne Cocktail: sugar, angostura bitters, champagne, and lemon twist. This drink has been referred to by some critics as an “Incongruous mess.” So let the record show- using unremarkable or inexpensive champagne or sparkling wine when mixing this cocktail is best practice. But, flavor profile notwithstanding, complex or straightforward cocktails all boil down to the quality of ingredients and how they are paired. We delight in that delicate balance!

The unifying components of these cocktails are carbonation, sugar, acid (lemon), and herbs. Curious Elixirs stand out from today’s tribe of NA drinks simply because they blend mindful ingredients like adaptogens into versions of cocktails we know and love.
No. 7 contains chardonnay grapes, elderflower, juniper, lavender, jasmine green tea, lemon zest, and gentian extract. Juniper is generally dispatched to aid digestion but is also high in nutrients and potent plant compounds. Ingredients like juniper can add a slight camphoraceous aroma to a drink but within this elixir, the lavender rolls in and smooths over any sharpness. There is a subtle minerality from California-grown chardonnay grapes and a light carbonation that tingles the palate. Notes of lavender and juniper gently come through while a touch of jasmine green tea and gentian root round out the finish.

Jasmine tea, made from green tea, is high in polyphenols called catechins. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has been linked to many benefits, including weight loss, improved blood sugar control, and heart and oral health. All Curious Elixirs are alcohol-free, and Curious No. 7 was specifically made for memorable moments. So order a box of No 7 for your next event, and you’ll be sure to please even the pickiest of guests. Toast with No. 7 chilled and up in a coupe glass with a twist of lemon and add an optional drop of honey for a touch of sweetness.
