Who would have thought that so many people would jump onboard with 716 Day so quickly? It turns out that numerous businesses and organizations are going to be celebrating the big day en masse this year. That’s great news, because we’ve always looked for a rallying cry type of event to promote this city as a whole – a city unified and proud. When so much negativity is in the national air, and we look for ways to mend our collective spirit, Buffalo, in many ways, always manages to keep a chin up and look for ways to embrace solidarity. This is especially true now that the city is rebounding as a whole.
Whatever it is that you’re doing on 716 Day, stop to think about your brothers and sisters in Buffalo, and throughout the country and the world. Find a place to wave your Buffalo ‘flag’, whether you choose to support a Buffalo born brand, or attend a hometown celebration. There is no better time to be back in Buffalo, and we’re aiming to show the world just how resilient and community driven we have become.
One easy way to show that you’re supporting your city is to attend 716 Day at (716) Food and Sport (HarborCenter). On that day (Saturday), 716 fever will be in the air, with live music, guest appearances by Sabres alumni, Billy Buffalo, Sabretooth, and free airbrush face painting (noon to 3:00 pm). There will also be a celebratory 716 Toast at 7:16pm inside and outside the restaurant conducted by Southern Tier Brewing Company’s One Buffalo Our Beer. Buffalo fans can also grab a “Buffalo Split” – a Perry’s Ice Cream concoction using its newest flavor… Sundae at the Ralph! The outdoor festivities will be held on the (716) Sideline Patio from noon to 8:30 pm. Vitamin D will take the stage at 5:30 pm, followed up by DJ Milk.
“(716) is here for the community and seeks to be an epicenter of community pride,” said Dominic Verni, HARBORCENTER vice president of food and beverage. “July 16 has become representative of our area’s identity and an example of the affection Western New Yorkers have for our number: 716. We look forward to once again hosting an event that celebrates all of the wonderful things that our community has come to represent.”
Seating on the (716) Sideline Patio is always available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations inside (716) are available online at 716FoodAndSport.com.
