While prowling around the New York Power Authority site at the Outer Harbor, a BRO contributor came upon the new bike-ped ferry slated to begin operation as early as June. The ferry will transport passengers from Canalside to the Outer Harbor, making it easier for day-trippers and cyclists to access the State Park grounds and adjoining amenities (see more on the operation).
At the same time, our eagle eye man about the harbor noticed workmen scaling the giant grain elevator nearby. Apparently the team is in the midst of installing lights that will illuminate the monoliths this summer. We reported earlier that the Connecting Terminal elevator would be fashioned with a permanent light system:
“The lighting installation will operate year round from dusk until 11 pm is to be permanently installed on the grain elevator. Multiple schemes based on a narrative theme will be programmed and displayed.”
The light switch for this installation could be switched on as early as June.
