This year marks the 24th year for The Ball Drop, and this year Buffalonians have a lot to celebrate including a newly restored and magnificently lit Electric Tower. Live entertainment kicks off at 10:30pm with music acts Caitlin Koch and the Jamie Moses Band as headliners. Once again, the Ball Drop will conclude with a fireworks extravaganza, which always “wows’ the audience and gives us a spectacular photo by Joe Cascio. See last year’s stunning photo in lead photo.
“In addition to welcoming the New Year, the 2012 Ball drop also ushers in the 100th anniversary of the Electric Tower,” Paul Bohdan Iskalo, founder and CEO, Iskalo Development, said. “The Ball Drop, now marking its 24th year, and the restored Electric Tower have become unified in their celebration of the City of Buffalo as well as testaments to our rich heritage and harbingers for its prosperous future.”
“Now in its 24th year, the ‘Buffalo Ball Drop & Fireworks’ display has become an annual tradition that keeps getting bigger and better,” said Mayor Byron W. Brown. “I’d like to thank our exceptional sponsor organizations for the continued hard work and dedication to the people of Buffalo and Western New York. Their commitment to our city and its many assets fills us with a great sense of pride as we work to bring more business and people to the downtown district.”
Independent Health is this year’s title sponsor.
