WHO: Members of the Seymour Knox family will light the Christmas tree, which was donated to the Gallery in 1972 in memory of Helen Northrup Knox. To celebrate the music of the holiday season, the St. Paul,Aeos Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys will follow with a Christmas Concert in the Gallery Auditorium.
WHAT: The Christmas tree features exquisite 18th-century Neapolitan cr/(R)che figurines, representing a dramatic Nativity scene with sequential narrative episodes. The cr/(R)che simulates the steep rock of the Neapolitan coastal area, reminiscent of 13th and 14th-century Italian paintings.
WHEN: The official lighting of the Gallery tree will take place Friday, December 14 at 7 p.m. The St. Paul,Aeos Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. The tree is on public view during Gallery hours: Wed.-Thurs. 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., Fri. 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sat.-Sun., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. through New Years Eve.
