We love our Porchfests in WNY! These days, you can pick and choose the various Porchfests taking place around town. The good thing is, they are pretty well spread out throughout the course of the year, which means that there are plenty of times to catch them… all of them.
2019 marks the third return of the City of Tonawanda’s Porchfest. On Sunday August 25th the streets of Tonawanda will be filled with the sound of free local music. There are 50 + bands and 30 porches scheduled to host free performances throughout the city. Additional information can be found on their website: www.cotporchfest.com
This year, Porchfest is growing, as mote businesses are included in the soundsational affair.
“Our aim is to be an inclusive event that allows everyone to participate on some level. Last year we had food trucks, utilized Central Park to provide a place for local non-profits, and limited-edition tee-shirts. We just want to grow from there into something that is a unique part of Tonawanda,” said Colleen Moline, Porchfest Committee Member.
The waterfront of Tonawanda provides a wonderful setting to enjoy free music and a diverse talent base from all over WNY.
In 2018, Tonawanda City Porchfest featured more than 60 artists on 40+ porches, which signals that the event has become a mainstay festivity for the tight-knit community. At the same time, everyone is welcome to come explore these wonderful porches, while listening to some of the best live music acts in the region.
“Porchfest continues to be a well received event in the Tonawanda community and everyone looks forward to Porchfest and the continual growth that makes Porchfest a unique event year after year,” said Tara Kennedy, Committee Member. This year we anticipate doubling participation numbers.

Porchfest is an international event that began over a decade ago in Ithaca, NY, since that first year this event has grown exponentially. What started as one community with 20 performers has developed into over 100 cities throughout the US and Canada each hosting their own version of Porchfest. Porchfest celebrates the abundant diversity of communities through music and art.
