In Buffalo, Allentown is the land of poets. The various venues have always been supportive of the arts, which is one of the reasons that the art/poetry scene proliferates in this city. Recently, Nietzsche’s has become a place where numerous poets have turned up, to battle it out each month. What started off as a friendly interchange between contemporary poets, has now become a serious affair, drawing more poets together to wield their words for the betterment of self and community.
What started as one skirmish on the west end of Allen has turned into a monthly battle royale of Buffalo’s contemporary poets. Twenty-nine poets have stormed Nietzsche’s in the last four months and in July we’re bringing in more.
