Finally pups will have a chance to be the hit of the party. Businesses along the 500 and 600 blocks of Main Street are creating the inaugural Halloween Puppy Parade and Costume Contest. The event gives dog owners the ability to parade their four legged friends, while supporting the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter. During the event, some of the costumed animals we be available for adoption as well. This if the first puppy Halloween parade of its kind in Buffalo, and will hopefully become a fall tradition in Downtown Buffalo.
In order to encourage a colorful and festive atmosphere, prizes will be awarded for scariest, most creative and most adorable costumes. Parents and children are also invited to dress up at the parade. Participants will make a stop by the Market Arcade (617 Main Street), where Halloween Biscuits and totes will be handed out by Buffalo Barkery (at participating shops). Thirsty pups will be happy to find a watering station set up at Fountain Plaza. A Harvest Photo Op station will be set up so that pets and their owners will be able to capture the memories. And at the end of the parade (Furnishings, 500 Main Street), prizes will be handed out to the winners.
Everyone is invited to join in on the fun!
Registration will begin at 12pm and go until 12:30pm at the WNY Book Arts Center, 468 Washington St, downtown. A suggested donation of $5 to participate or bring an item on the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter’s Wish-List. Raffle items and giveaways will be handed out along the way.
