Ten Lives Club (TLC) is throwing an unusual happy hour for animal lovers called Beer For Cats. The happy hour includes drink specials, theme baskets, raffles, a silent auction and chance to purrrty with your friends. The fundraiser will benefit Non-profit Cat Adoption and Rescue Group, Friday May 7, 4-7pm at Mister Goodbar at 1110 Elmwood Ave.
If you’re not familiar with TLC, the organization relies on donations to help feed, medicate and house over 225 cats (including their cats in foster care) of the program. TLC believes every cat deserves tender love and care. That’s why their mission is to promote the future of, and the enhancement of, all cats’ lives.
The club began in January 2001 and since that time 8,000 cats have been adopted or helped through TLC. They respond to many stray and unwanted cats in the greater Buffalo area. During the month of March, nine cats from the Broadway- Fillmore area of the city were surrendered to TLC. Five more cats came from the West Side. They also assisted eight cats at the Buffalo City Shelter.
Once a cat is surrendered to TLC, a thorough evaluation is done by one of their affiliated vets and all the necessary testing and shots are given. Most importantly, they are sprayed and neutered. TLC believes strongly that the answer to the serious pet over-population problem is to spray and neuter. Please help Ten Lives Club assist Buffalo area cats in need!
Ten Lives works with the Maddie Fund Project partners includes HEART, Buffalo Humane, The City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, Second Chance Sheltering Network, The SPCA Serving Erie County and Operation Pets. That assists the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter by taking some of their cats into the TLC program. The goal of the Maddie’s Fund is to make Erie County a no-kill place where treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home. for more info on Maddie’s Fund, click here.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
