Waiting Room, Buffalo’s newest music venue is taking over the space at 334 Delaware Avenue, presently known as Sinful Nightclub, come April 1st. This new endeavor has Donny Kutzbach (co-owner of Funtime Presents and Town Ballroom) and Chris Ring (After Dark Entertainment) at the helm, and is a very welcome addition to the local music scene… and comes directly on the heels of another recent venue/promoter announcement with Babeville and Dan Smalls Presents (situated directly across the street – see here). Between the co-owners’ shared experience and expertise in the industry, and wide range of concerts that they have promoted in town, this is sure to be an instant hit with live music fans looking to catch shows ranging from Polar Bear Club to Ron Hawkins to Hellzapoppin’s sideshow, circus, burlesque and freaks!
According to Kutzbach the venue is going to be a combination of “old and new” playing off many of the things that people came to know and love at Mohawk Place and other intimate venues of Buffalo’s lost music settings. With capacity slated to reach 450 people, there is such potential to see a variety of acts week after week. In addition, The Songwriter’s Stage will be a smaller, more intimate venue inside the space, lending itself to a much different experience altogether, allowing the club to feature a wide range of local and national talent.
Both promoters have stated that they feel that the size of the venue is just what Downtown Buffalo is in need of. It’s a space that is relatively new to the city, and should lend itself to some high impact, dynamic shows.
Once again we are seeing an evolution of the city’s music scene, and there are plenty of live music fans that are looking forward to seeing what the next chapter of the story will look and sound like.
To kick things off, Monday April 1st, the Waiting Room will welcome The Polar Bear Club, along with with !Outernational! Anchor Me Down and Cedar Kites. Also, as of April 1st, all tickets for Waiting Room shows will be available through Ticketfly.com and the After Dark box office at 630 Elmwood Avenue.
