West Buffalo Charter School (WBCS) says it may be forced to find a temporary location while a legal battle wages over its attempts to acquire as its permanent home the former Public School #36 in Days Park. Bidding for Olympic Towers at 300 Pearl Street ended today. It is not known if the final bid will be accepted by the seller however. The drama unfolded online. The auction opened Tuesday with a minimum bid set at $1 million. The bidding moved up in $250,000 increments until reaching $1.75 million. Subsequent bidding was in $100,000 steps. Buffalo doesn’t have a Walmart store, but could soon have its traffic. A dilapidated plaza in West Seneca could be the home of a new Walmart Store under plans announced yesterday. The former Acheson Hall on UB’s South Campus has been stripped down. The 147,000-square-foot structure, vacant since 1994, is the future home of the School of Pharmacy. Kapoor Hall will be the first facility designed specifically for the needs and anticipated growth of UB Pharmacy, which is ranked in the top 25 pharmacy schools in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report. Terrence McGee is moving downtown. The Buffalo Bills corner back purchased a sixteenth floor condominium in Avant. According to County Clerk records, McGee paid $575,000 for the 1,676 sq.ft., two-bedroom, two bath unit. The Avant includes a 150-room Embassy Suites hotel on the first seven floors and 128,000 sq.ft. of office space on floors 8 through 12. Law firm Damon & Morey has taken two of the floors. Portland, Oregon’s Bureau of Environmental Services is in the midst of a multi-year project that is changing the look of a large section of Southeast Portland. The changes are part of the Tabor to the River program, which will improve storm-water drainage in the Brooklyn Creek Basin, an area with a history of flooding problems.
