It is with pleasure that I take this opportunity to contact you today. As a Torontonian who is a big fan and supporter of the Queen City, I am writing to offer a thought on how to bring more tourists to your city. My suggestion is a simple one. Advertise in Toronto. Only one hundred miles up the QEW, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has approximately three and half million potential tourists at your doorstep. Iim a huge fan of food co-ops. I discovered them seven years ago just after I moved to Austin Texas for graduate school. My personal philosophy has always been communitarian; about sharing, building and sustaining community n the very same principles that guide the co-op movement. Co-ops are grocery stores that exist beyond the purpose of selling food for profit to consumers. Wake up Buffalo! Why arenit more of you riding Metro Rail? Youive got a nice system there, clean, comfortable and attractive. This observation coming from a Torontonian who regularly rides the subway up here. Sure, your train route is short. It doesnit go to Amherst or the airport. But it does go through all the city neighborhoods that are being revitalized. And light rail is the perfect vehicle (no pun intended) to help spur development in reclaimed urban areas. Elmwood, Hertel, Allentown, are all close enough to rail stops to make train travel for intown needs a viable option. No?…
