Growing up in Central, New York was a lot like living in a closet, but with a great view. At 18, she went off to college to find herself and to see what the world had in store for her. She has lived in various parts of the country, California being her favorite, and has traveled outside the US borders. She hopes to live her last years in Mexico, along the Pacific coast, in a pueblo hut that has a thatched roof that sits right on the beach, so she can always hear the sound of the ocean, and feel the sand beneath her feet. Here, she would continue with her childhood fascination of collecting seashells and read as many books as her eyes would permit. (http://www.tinadillman.com)

Since moving to Buffalo almost two years ago, I have had the pleasure of meeting members of the arts and cultural community that have contributed to the creation of the social fabric of the city that we all hold near and dear. I will not be able to attribute each and every one of these people here, since time and space is always limited, so…

Jozef Bajus was one of the first artists I met after I moved to Buffalo in 2014. At that time he had a solo exhibition, Lendfield, on view at Hallwalls that consisted mostly of large-scale wall sculptures utlizing either recycled materials or commonly found plastics, pipes or rubber. I remember being impressed by the scale, and elegant use of materials that both complimented the professional atmosphere of the gallery. The work was allowed to breathe in coexistence with the viewer. Since then, I’ve witnessed his work in other galleries, including his recent show at Indigo Art, where the depth of…

Artists seek to distinguish themselves. Otto Rank wrote that the difference between an artist and a neurotic is that the artist is productive—the artist leaves a story through objects or acts that become history. – Charles Clough I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie last summer, when he had reached out to me via email after reading about the free painting workshops I was offering to youth in a park on the West Side. He even made a visit one Saturday to check things out, wearing all black under the summer sun. Charlie is a distinctive man, even though he is…

On March 9, one of my mother’s sisters that she was close to passed away. I received a call later that day from my mom letting me know she was going to attend the funeral in Tennessee. My mother never asks anything from me, but I could tell by the tone in her voice that she needed me by her side, as she embarked on this journey. As a daughter who is truly thankful for everything my parents have done for me, and because I love my mother, probably more than any individual, I dropped everything to be with her.…

When you hear the name, Eric Magnuson, you may not be able to put a face to the name. With his full time job as Head Preparator at the Albright-Knox, he’s the man behind the scenes, ensuring that all of the artwork at the museum is properly cared for and installed seamlessly, thus ensuring your optimum viewing experience.
