Good news for Nardin Academy, which is composed of an all-girls high school and Montessori Elementary School. Ground was officially broken on their Cleveland Avenue campus thanks to a $3.5 million expansion project that will add 22,000 square feet, 11,000 square feet per school, to the facility. Interestingly enough, it is the first expansion project the school has received since 1964. The school received the money as a gift through Angelo and Carol Fatta, whose generous lead gift spearheaded the project. After administrators, students and parents determined that dance, music, and the fine arts would benefit from new facilities, the school…

For too long, wine had been hogging the spotlight. Restaurants told you which wine paired best with which food. We beer drinkers were left in the dark. But then the day came when someone noticed that delicious craft beer could achieve a great relationship with food in exactly the same way wine could. As Jason Drewniak of Dundee Ales and Lagers said, “It’s beer’s turn.”So when you go to Buffalo Restaurant Week September 21st to the 28th, you might see Dundee’s Oktoberfest on the menu. As you’re aware, Frank Lloyd Wright architecture is not foreign to Buffalo, due in large part to Wright’s close friendship with Darwin D. Martin of the Larkin Soap Company. Wright’s best known work here is the house he designed for Martin on Jewett Parkway, though you can find more examples of his work on Soldier’s Parkway, Tillinghast Place, and through archived photos of the Larkin office building that was demolished in 1950. The Frank Lloyd Wright Rowing Boathouse was added to Buffalo’s list of Wright treasures in 2007. Now, thanks to Senator William Stachowski, funding of $250K has been secured to allow…

I had to hold off on writing this. My grief was strong enough that thinking about the Bills game last night was too much. But now I think it’s best to get it out, ya know, talk about it.As we all know, the Patriots defeated the Bills 25-24 last night. It was another Monday Night Football disaster following on the heels of the Cowboys and Browns meltdowns. During the first 55 minutes or so, the Bills no-huddle offense worked efficiently and effectively while the defense made Brady and Moss look positively pedestrian. With 2 minutes and 10 seconds left, the…
