We’re not the only disgruntled Bills fans in Western New York. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who IS satisfied, unless they have that memory disease from Momento and are fortunate enough to be stuck in 1993. Even before dropping some very “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!” games to teams like Miami and Cleveland, games we thought would be W’s, someone took it upon themselves to create FireDickNow.com, a forum for Bills fans to sign a petition to end head coach Dick Jauron’s tenure here. Don’t forget to check out the “Dick Dead Pool.” Estimate when you think Jauron will get…

It’s doubtful Thurman Thomas will be going off on the failures of the Bills current administration the way Darryl Talley did, but it would certainly be fun if he did. Instead, Hall of Famer Thomas will address young players, their parents, and coaches at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13th at 7 PM. Thomas’ lecture is titled “Thurman Thomas Sports Training for Young Athletes,” and will touch on the finer points of the game, including safety, various levels of play, and skill development with his Thurman Thomas Sports Training Staff Demeris Johnson, Ben Woods, and…

Buffalo-Niagara RIVERKEEPER hopes to hand out 161 (updated quantity) free Rain barrels to highly visible local sites (with external gutter systems) in an effort to save our drinking water from overburdened water swells due to storms and runoff. Heavy rainfall often overwhelms our sewage systems, resulting in an overflow of raw sewage that seeps into the water we drink. One way to combat the 4 billion gallons of water that runs into our drinking water from Lake Erie and the Niagara River is the use of rain barrels. Not only do the barrels quell an overabundance of flow, but they provide an excellent…

I watched those episodes of Ghost Hunters at the Central Terminal and Iron Island Museum a few times. Very creepy stuff. You don’t even have to believe in the paranormal to find their investigations interesting. They taped a shot of a figure walking through a dark hallway and recorded some disembodied voices at both places. Thinking that “something” was watching certainly made the Central Terminal’s Halloween party a lot more fun last year. Now’s the time to test your mettle against the dark forces of the underworld. On Friday, October 30th, hunt for the unexplained with the WNY Ghost Hunters, world-renowned…

I just heard from some of our Blackrock friends that the Breckenridge Meeting House (aka Union Meeting House) is in the process of getting a new roof. “So what?” you ask. Well, the Breckenridge Meeting House, formerly the Breckenridge Presbyterian Church, is Buffalo’s oldest church building. It was built in 1827 (that’s EIGHTEEN TWENTY SEVEN), almost 200 years ago (that’s TWO HUNDRED YEARS), by the American War of 1812 general Peter Porter. The building has been underutilized and in a general state of neglect for several decades, reportedly receiving many code violation citations in recent years. I am told it is owned…

Several years ago, 103.3 The Edge moved Shredd and Ragan to afternoons to allow for Opie and Anthony’s nationally syndicated morning show. They’re not on in Buffalo anymore, but during their broadcasts, I really started to enjoy Jim Norton. As their third mic, he brought a clever edge to the show. Norton’s material is considered “dirty,” but it’s also honest. He doesn’t go for “shock” value or a “disgust factor,” he’s just not afraid to explore dark subject matter. I still wouldn’t recommend bringing your girlfriend’s mom to the show.Norton’s career has spanned 15 years, and he has been a…
