Buffalo State College’s Bulger Communications Center has been announced as the location for the Great Lakes Metros and the New Opportunity, Remaking Policy and Practice in a Time of Transformation, a program that will provide topical overviews and opportunities for future federal support. With the rising of steel on Buffalo’s new Federal Courthouse complete, the next phase is moving forward. The inner window rows, previously covered with wooden boards, are coming out and are being replaced by blue tainted glass panes. The new glass curtain walled facade will be going up shortly after all inner windows are in place, covering the entire structure with a modern, futuristic appearance. This new landmark on Niagara Square fills in a good chunk of the urban fabric streetscape, soon to be topped with a glowing beacon on the tip of the elevator tower, marking the City of Light’s slowly growing skyline.…

The Neighborhood Collective building, located at 810 Elmwood Avenue across from the Lexington Co-op, has been many things to many people. Soon the structure will be adding Juniper to its list.  The new restaurant that will be opening at the end of May, early June at the latest. A few months ago, Barbara A. Seals Nevergold and Peggy Brooks-Bertram of the Uncrowned Queens published a collection of heartfelt letters addressed to Michelle Obama.  The letters were from African American women from around the world.  Not only did the book touch the hearts of the readers, Nevergold and Bertram kept on receiving more letters. In merely months, the book is already on its 5th printing and has sold 10,000 copies to date. Buffalo State theater student Jason Lee Klinger zeroed in on the idea of a vampire love saga long before the relatively recent Twilight phenomena began, but his version is just a bit different. His story chronicles a zombie going after a vampire in “Zombie Loves Vampire”.          Klinger’s digital HD-short, a romantic comedy of sorts, is set in the streets of Buffalo. I stopped by Sample last Tuesday and was reminded why I’m never disappointed there.
