The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority recently unveiled a new $1 million LED lighting system for the bridge. In celebration of the new lighting and the centennial anniversary of the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909, the Authority launched a photography contest. Entries are due July 15. Photographs need to capture the new LED illumination of the Peace Bridge from any publicly accessible location, are required to be in color, and must be submitted in an electronic format. The Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus will be presenting “On Vacation” at three upcoming concerts.  On Friday, June 19th, the BGMC will perform at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo, located at 695 Elmwood Avenue at West Ferry Street. On Friday, June 19th, the International Institute of Buffalo will host a festival in recognition of World Refugee Day 2009.  The event will highlight exhibits from the United Nations, featuring “UNHRC: Surviving Darfur,” a photo display about refugees in Darfur that documents the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and Chad. The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to respond to emergency communication calls from military service members and their families. On Tuesday, June 16th, the American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter, located on 786 Delaware Avenue, will hold a training session from 3 PM until 5:15 PM.  The emergency service is provided all day, every day. The event will include lectures by the artists and live music by Chris Campos. On Sunday, June 7th, 2009, the Buffalo Mural Arts Program (BMAP) will host a fundraiser and visual arts show at the Buffalo Central Terminal. A free concert, featuring local bands Type Relevant, The Broadcast, The Incurables, Chris Brown and more, will be held outside the event.  Last year, Kimberly Moore, a UB graduate, worked for council president David A.
