Just in time for its 30th anniversary, the Buffalo Irish Festival has found a new home at the Statler Hotel.The festival was first held in 1982 at Weimer’s Grove in Lancaster as a celebration of Irish heritage and the history of the Irish community in Buffalo. After spending 20 consecutive years in Lancaster, the festival was moved to the festival grounds at the pier on the city’s Outer Harbor. North Buffalo has finally started blooming just in time for the Parkside Community Association’s 13th annual tour of homes.This tour takes guests on a trip throughout the residential area bordering the Buffalo Zoo and Frederick Law Olmsted’s Delaware Park. With the National Preservation Conference coming this fall, the timing couldn’t be better to add six properties in both Erie and Niagara Counties to the National Register of Historic Places. The six locations described below have been given the seal of approval by the State Review Board and the State’s commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. When Mark Goldman began redesigning the back room of the Allen Street Hardware Café, he reached out to local production designer Joel Resnikoff to collaborate on what they could do with it.
