Evan Thompson moved from Melbourne, Australia to Buffalo, New York when he was 13 years old. After consistently relocating to different countries around the world, his family fell in love with the charm of the City of Buffalo and the people who call it home. After high school, Evan attended Indiana University and studied politics. Upon returning to Buffalo he became an Adult Education Instructor for BOCES before teaching ESL to refugees in the Buffalo Public Schools. Evan then taught and volunteered abroad living in South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. He currently works in adventure tourism and plays music in local bands.

This Sunday marks Ryan Stang’s 6th annual volleyball tournament fundraiser. His event “Buffalo Spikes for Tykes” (formerly “Servin for a Cause”) has raised over $100,000 for disabled and underprivileged children in Western New York. Stang has been throwing events in the Buffalo area since he was 19. This year’s tournament promises to be one of his biggest yet. With over 400 volleyball players already registered and an overwhelming support group of local sponsors, friends and family Stang has confidence that this will be the biggest year yet.
