If you’re keeping up with the NHL playoffs (which have been amazing this year, as usual) then you’ve probably been exposed to the situation down in Phoenix.  SHOCKINGLY, there aren’t enough hockey fans in Arizona to support a professional team.  What?  And since the Coyotes haven’t made the playoffs since 2001-2002, it’s tough to build a fan base.  While I appreciate Commissioner Bettman’s attempts to grow the popularity of hockey, it hardly seems to be working.  The Florida Panthers have made the playoffs three times since their creation in 1993.  The franchise has serious difficulty putting people in the seats,…

Last night the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority unveiled a dramatic new lighting system for the Peace Bridge. There were no fireworks or a grand display, but there was music synchronized to a light show on the bridge. Whether tacky or not, it was a good way to show off what the computerized software could do with the unlimited light combinations and various effects to the gathered on-lookers. A beautiful night to be in the city, and the weather held off for a great event. A media tent was set up for the ceremony – movie, and more here. The $1.2 million…

The City of Buffalo has some of the most spectacular architecture found in the country. A quick drive through downtown and you will be blown away at the abundant amount of historic buildings designed by world-renowned architects, and locals alike. Development downtown has been increasingly prevalent in the past few years – most we’ve seen in decades. Now, as we strive to break the slab holding back a city stuck with a stagnant skyline since the 1970’s, buildings are going up, historic structures are being redeveloped, and the overall civic pride of Buffalo has gone up dramatically. Our downtown seems to have buildings from…
