While hangin’ around the zoo the other day I sidestepped into the zoois Beastro to sample their well-known French fries. Laurie Hope (photo), the eateryis manager, was beaming with pride as she scrambled around the counter to welcome me. Laurie started off by telling me, iWeire the unsung heroes at the zoo. We feed the hungry crowd year eround and try to keep them happy and healthy by preparing food that we hope they like along with being relatively good for them. We offer healthy alternatives like tuna wraps for the adults, and the chicken nugget meal for the kids…

Slideshow Visit To The Zoo A few years ago I was very excited about the possibility that the Buffalo Zoo might move downtown. Obviously that never happened. There were three reasons that the move was exciting to me, the first being the sizeable increase of the animals living quarters. The second was the idea of turning the current zoo into a people park replete with amphitheater, skate park, etc. The third was the creation of a new zoo downtown that would add to the future vibrancy of the city.

Tru-Teas is currently serving up a chai tea that will warm your soul. Served up along with a bowl of granulated honey, this could possibly be the ultimate winter beverage. Jennifer Ulrich explains the history of chai: There are two words for tea, used around the world, cha and tea. Both are derived from the two Chinese dialect words for “tea”. The word Chai is the southwest Asian form of “cha”. Chai is a sweet, creamy spiced tea drunk in India with the same fervor that Americans drink coffee each morning. The cigar purse has been around for a while, and there was a time that almost every girl had one. Over the last couple years this once trendy accessory has all but faded away as all fashion trends tend to do. That’s why I decided to point out these sweet cigar purses that showed up on the counters of Divine Finds recently. Since this trend faded a while back (and there has been a long enough time period to distance the cigar purse from the ‘it’s so over’ stage), it is now safe to tote one around again. The cigar…

There is a new breakfast/lunch joint called Signature Coffee that is a welcome addition to the Elmwood/Amherst area. Signature opened towards the end of August, filling a space that had previously been Karen’s. I am always on the lookout for a new breakfast ‘go to’, and I had been hearing great things about their food, so a couple of us stopped in the other morning to see what the deal was. Signature is an urban getaway that has the look and feel of a roadside diner. The outside of this free standing ‘house’ is fairly non-descript, but it’s these kinds…

The film website proper is up and running. There you will find small and large versions of the trailer, production stills, and pictures of the cast and crew. We are 45 minutes into the first cut of the film and expect to have a complete first cut by mid-January. There is talk of holding the premiere at the terminal. That would be great fun. I am also working on the sequel and in talks with a number of distributors interested in marketing the finished project. We’ll take the title of “Hollywood North” away from Toronto soon enough! -David R. Williams…
