Explore & More Children’s Museum’s annual Touch-A-Truck event will be held at Canalside for the first time. This event is just a small precursor to what families can expect, once the children’s museum opens in the South Aud Block in late 2018. The 8th annual Touch-A-Truck event will take place Sunday, June 11, from 11am to 4pm in the Buffalo News Parking Lot on Scott Street. This is a fantastic opportunity for little ones to get up close and personal with the giant trucks that they typically see from afar. It’s an opportunity to get into the driver’s seat of all sorts of trucks, which makes for excellent photo ops.
In 2017, there will be over 50 vehicles to explore, along with a wide assortment of other entertainment and activities, including:
- Pinewood derby
- Physical fun with Jump Bunch
- Learning fun with the Library’s book mobile
- Face painting
- Food trucks
- A hot dog stand
- Visits from Sabretooth, Billy Buffalo and Rax the Bandit
“June 11th will be a special day for the children of Buffalo. Explore & More’s growing impact on the City of Buffalo and its children is a tremendous investment for our community and adds to the positive growth we are experiencing in Buffalo,” said Event Co-Chair Sam Savarino.
The New Era Cap Foundation, Buffalo Bills Foundation and Buffalo Sabres Foundation recently teamed up to present Explore & More Children’s Museum with a $1 million charitable gift to help construct the Playing Together educational play zone, which will be a prime attraction when the new museum opens at Canalside.
Tickets for the event are $8 a person, but thanks to a number of sponsors, over 2,000 will find their way to disadvantaged children via schools, the Boys & Girls Club, and social service organizations. The funds raised at the event will go towards Explore & More Children’s Museum.
“We are thrilled that Explore & More Children’s Museum is building its new home at Canalside, to open in 2018. Our Citywide Day of Play at Touch-A-Truck serves as great example of what Explore & More—with the help of its community partners—can do to make a positive and lasting impact to the lives of children in our community,” said Event Co-Chair Julia Spitz.
