As part of the extensively planned program of Pride festivities, the Allentown Association, Allentown First Friday Gallery Walk, Pine Apple Company and the Pride Center of WNY are rolling out Chroma! Simply put, the idea behind Chroma is to promote the Allentown galleries that support LGBTQ artists and the LGBTQ community. Much of the art featured at the galleries will be created by LGBTQ artists. There will also be street art exhibits such as Rainbows on Allen that cleverly signal the presence of Chroma.
A couple of artistic items of interest to look forward to:
- Pine Apple Company will be featuring music, entertainment and creative Unicorn inspired artwork on display
- Installation of Rainbows on Allen is a community-based painting project coordinated by the Allentown Association and the Pride Center to bring rainbows to the streets. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the rainbows come to life. Special thanks to the Awesome Foundation for making this happen – lead image by Allentown Association.
Chroma is an annual event, coinciding with Pride events and activities. The series of LGBTQ-friendly exhibits and installations is in remembrance of Mr. Jim Rolls, who was a staunch advocate for the LGBTQ community and past Pride Center of Western New York board member.
The rainbow sidewalks will inaugurate the ongoing project (Rainbows on Allen) that aims to bring awareness to the LGBTQ community in Buffalo.
Chroma takes place on First Friday Gallery Walk in Allentown – Friday, June 2, 2017, from 6pm to 11pm.
