There are artists. Then, there are entrepreneurs. Sometimes there are entrepreneurial artists. Most of the time, however, it’s hard for an artist to be an entrepreneur when he or she is concentrating on making art. Somehow, that has to change, or we will always be accepting the ‘starving artist’ as a standard, not an exception to the rule.
On Wednesday, October 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), in partnership with New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and Arts Services Initiative of Western New York (ASI) will be offering a free public program that aims to strengthen entrepreneurial training in Western New York. Arts administrators in WNY are invited to attend this social meet-up at Flying Bison Brewery. In order to create stronger connections and networking opportunities in Buffalo, existing challenges must be identified, as well as existing strengths to build upon.
The evening will feature two key note speakers in the emerging leaders and arts administrator fields.
- Lindsay Riggs, Buffalo Niagara Partnership (BN360 Program Coordinator)
- Rachel Adams, Senior Curator, University at Buffalo Art Galleries
The time is now to work together to identify potential opportunities for the art community here in Buffalo.
