To take advantage of what promises to be a beautiful long
Memorial Day Weekend, the deadline to submit pix to the Citybration Buffalo Waterfront Photography Contest has been
extended. Be sure to get your best shots in by Tuesday, May 29 at 10:00am.
It’s easy – just upload your photos to
the Student, Amateur or Professional category and you could be one of the 50
lucky finalists who will have their handiwork hung in the Visit Buffalo Niagara
Gallery in the Market Arcade for a month. You could even be a cash Winner or
Runner Up. Click here to find out
more.
Not a shutterbug? No worries. Vote for
your faves. The top 50 pix will be chosen by public support!
But the Photography Exhibit Opening on Thursday, June 21 is
just the first of several dozen cool
Citybration events that will take place on Thursday, June 21 through Sunday,
June 24.
Get a bird’s eye view of
Buffalo from the basket of a (safely tethered) Hot Air Balloon! Three Hot Air
Balloons will all rise high over three different Waterfront locations on three
Citybration evenings (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 6:00-8:00pm. Sponsored
by RE/MAX; proceeds to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Or gaze at Downtown Buffalo
and the Lake from atop our magnificent City Hall at sunset, feasting on hors
d’oeuvres and locally brewed beverages, taking docent-led tours. VIP tickets to
the Sunset Reception at City Hall, featuring craft brews by Community Beer
Works and a Craft Cider tasting by Chateau Buffalo, are just $10 and include
food and beverages. Or come on in for free and just enjoy the views.
Explore the Waterfront
during the second annual Citybration Scanvenger Hunt. Just put together a Team
and bring along a smartphone. QR codes will lead you on a merry chase, by foot
or by bike. Register your Team on Citybration.com, just $20. Bandannas, prizes
and more.
Or see the City from the
water aboard the Floating Cocktail Party. If you have a boat, join the parade.
From kayaks and canoes to yachts, motorboats and sailboats–any craft is
welcome. If you long to ride the waves but lack a boat, board the Spirit of
Buffalo (just $20, cash bar). Rumor has it there will be a craft beer barge,
too. Register online at Citybration.com – you could end up in the Guiness Book
of World Records as part of the largest Floating Cocktail ever. And be sure to
submit your entry in the Citybration Cocktail Contest. Buffalo needs a
signature cocktail – design one! Enter online, and indulge onboard.
The Buffalo sound, known
as the “Buffalo Shuffle,” will rock the Tralf, where we’ll also preview The
American Side, a full length feature film that will be shot in Buffalo this
summer. The Musicalfare 24 Hour Musical Festival will feature four
Buffalo-centric musicals on the Studio Arena stage. And more than 20 tours will
be offered over the course of the four-day festival.
Start your Sunday, June
24th morning by running in the first annual Citybration 5K Race, or
do the Fun Run. Proceeds benefit Wellness programs in the Buffalo Public
Schools, and the first 250 runners get dri-fit t-shirts. Just $18 to register
online.
The finish line is at the
Cheerios vs Chicken Wing Challenge on the Boardwalk – help decide which of
these iconic foods Buffalonians prefer (by eating them!), and benefit both the
WNY Food Bank and Buffalo City Mission. Sabretooth will be on hand, and Buster
Bison and his buddies may be there, too.
Don’t leave yet! The
Citybration Festival @ Canalside will entertain on the Waterfront all day long.
The stage will feature a different slice of the Buffalo Story every 20
minutes – from Irish step dancers to Shakespeare in the Park to War of 1812
re-enactments. Area arts and cultural organizations, neighborhood groups and
advocacy agencies will be offering hands-on activities that engage
festival-goers, and the Wellness Pavilion and Green Expo offer glimpses of Buffalo’s
bright future. Vendors will be selling Buffa-stuff, a beverage tent will
provide liquid libation, and food trucks will provide sustenance. A children’s
area will entrance the young ones and create the family-friendly, smoke-free,
handicap-accessible environment that Citybration prides itself on. There will
be boats and tours and plenty of excitement all day long!
Like Citybration on
Facebook and sign up for the weekly e-blast to keep up on all the latest. New
exhibitors and vendors are coming on board the Festival @ Canalside every day
(there’s still room – register online) and a few choice
sponsor
spots are still available. Want to really be part of the fun? Volunteer.
There’s something fun for everyone at Buffalo Citybration. You’re Invited – and so are your friends and family near and
far. Invite them, too.
