Genesee Gateway LLC has secured two new tenants for the Genesee Gateway complex. Two of Harold C. Brown & Co.’s five teams are forming their own investment advisory firms and plan to occupy their new space early next year. W. Lawrence Buck and Deborah Stauring are owners of Winthrop Financial, Inc. and Michael Pratt and Matthew Collard are owners of Pratt Collard Advisory Partners, LLC. The two firms will be occupying nearly 4,000 sq.ft. of the restored historic block.
Consisting of nine historic structures and one newly-built structure, the 60,000 sq.ft. Genesee Gateway is one of downtown’s newest office and retail complexes. The highly visible buildings are located at the corner of Genesee and Oak streets, one of the main gateways into downtown. The restoration was designed by Flynn Battaglia Architects.
“We loved its unique historic character, its visibility and its easy accessibility for our clients,” said Deborah Stauring.
The award-winning rehabilitation project was made possible through a creative financing package provided by the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation.
“This investment made by the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation truly represents a gift to the City of Buffalo. The block of beautiful 19th and early 20th century commercial buildings stood as an eyesore and blight for decades. We now have a painstakingly restored block of historic buildings that has had an immediate impact on the image and value of downtown,” said Doug Swift, developer of Genesee Gateway. “We are fortunate that the project was completed prior to the National Historic Trust Conference held in Buffalo recently. Genesee Gateway was the site of one of the many tours conducted as part of the Conference because of its unique concept.”
The move by Winthrop Financial and Pratt Collard Advisory Partners is the latest on a growing list of tenants attracted to Genesee Gateway. Other tenants include the U.S. Passport Office, Department of State and NBT Solutions.
