Not a new build, but a rebranding. The Comfort Suites hotel at Main and Chippewa is converting to a Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Visions Hotels owns the 146-room seven-story hotel.
This will be fourth flag for the property. The Consentino Cos. opened the hotel in 1991 as a Journey’s End Suites hotel. It switched to a Radisson Suites in 1994 and a Comfort Suites in 2004.
Visions Hotels also owns the Adams Mark hotel downtown. A promised $10 million makeover and conversion to a Crowne Plaza in 2011 was never completed.
Holiday Inn Express is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group encompassing nine brands and 4,900 hotels in nearly 100 countries. There are currently over 2,400 Holiday Inn Express hotel locations around the globe.
