Another summer concert series is making waves starting in July. It’s being called Summer Breeze and it’s brought to you by our friends at the Olmsted Parks Conservancy. “Come Chill at The Hill” on a series of Thursday evenings before each Shakespeare performance. The message is one of thanks as Olmsted teams up with Shakespeare in Delaware Park to promote our local musicians as they play free gigs in a totally unique arena – the pergola at the Delaware Park Rose Garden atop Shakespeare Hill. Starting June 16th Soulis takes the covered stage, while food, beer and wine are served by Magnolia Catering.
Concert-goers, bring your blankets and arrive early – prepare to listen to some chill local tunes while basking in the evening sun. Situated on the opposing side of the Rose Garden is a grassy meadow, perfect for lounging, Hula hooping and dancing. Cafe tables will be set up on the Rose Garden’s pergola as well as alongside the garden.
The series will be 11 weeks long on starting June 16th and running til August 14th on each consecutive Thursday (with a double header on July 14th due to no Shakespeare Performance – show will be extended to 9pm on that evening only). Music starts at 5pm and goes to curtain up at 7:30pm. After the music ends, Shakespeare lovers can retire to the hill with blankets in hand. This is just one more way to enjoy the after-work hours while getting two free shows under your belt – live music and live theater… not a bad way to enter into the weekend. Here’s the schedule:
