During our first Buffalo Rising Roundtable of 2009 with WBFO News Director Mark Scott, Newell and I discussed Avenging Bad Design, the Forbes Magazine housing market article that places Buffalo in the 25 strongest, The Buffalo New’s continued employee buyouts, the New BRO web site and Buffalo Barn Board’s reuse of old building materials.
Though the radio segment is about 5 minutes long, the podcast is around 20 minutes in length. True, we’ve hashed most of the information out in posts, but Mark likes to go in for the analysis along with any developments that may have come up since we wrote up the original story. And then there’s opinion; all three of us get to let loose a little when we’re sitting in Studio B – as opposed to writing something up for the website, or in Mark’s case, broadcast. We like kicking our ideas around as a group.
So there are these underlying currents that don’t make our mainstream – the ideas about urban density, urban aesthetics (or lack of them) and the why of bad planning decisions. Of particular interest to me is new media and the prospect of the electronic age finally doing what it promised 3 decades ago by overtaking print.
With that, I suppose the final thought for this particular Roundtable segment is this: Thanks for making our site one of the fastest growing. Thanks for coming back every day.
