As an unexpected surprise, along with a complete “WOW” factor for North Buffalo, the original stained glass windows at the North Park Theatre have been uncovered. To say that the reveal is the icing on the cake is an understatement. Seeing this phase of the restoration of the theatre is both stunning and glorious.
The ‘Shea’s North Park’ stained glass was covered by concrete after the building was purchased by Loew’s cinema chain in 1948.
Now, as we can clearly see in this incredible photo taken by Joe Cascio, the windows make the building whole once again.
The project was made possible by the William Rupp Foundation. Swiatek Studios, a local company, completed the work. The surprise is part of a Veterans’ Day salute (see here) that takes place at the North Park Theatre this evening, where the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will play a tribute to veterans and their families.
