On Thursday, September 18, 2014, Buffalo State will be hosting a set of programs and festivities that revolve around the themes of ‘creativity’ and ‘innovation’.
On that day, SUNY Buffalo State School of The Professions (curated by Interim Dean, Dr. Rita Zientek) will launch the “Dare to Innovate!” ceremonies (part of Year of The Innovator) spotlighting five entrepreneurs who will be speaking about what it takes to become successful in their respective fields.
“Being an innovator takes courage,” says Dean Zientek, “Thus our opening program–‘Dare to Innovate’. Historically, innovators have often faced suspicion, and at times, persecution. Our program will feature a courageous and exciting band of entrepreneurs. Their stories will both inspire and delight. “We hope the public and our students alike attend this fabulous program. The timing is perfect – our celebration comes at a time when Buffalo is experiencing an entrepreneurial resurgence, bolstered by all kinds of people – who are both courageous and innovative.”
The entrepreneurs are as follows:
Jabril Shareff, President of Living Green Insulation – An award winning minority owned company
John Harris, President of Jphii Design – Ranked as one of the top five independent jewelry designers in U.S.
Raven Owusu, President of Café Cupcakesdesigns
Charlotte Walker, CFO, Doolli, Inc – Innovative software .com
Emily Stewart, Co-owner of the Co-Operative: BreadHive
