The final look of the podium of HARBORCENTER is taking shape while the hotel tower continues to rise. The $172 million hockey and entertainment complex is connected to First Niagara Center and includes two NHL-size rinks, retail space, a 750-space parking ramp, and a Marriott hotel.
Construction crews have been working around the clock to have the parking ramp, ice rinks, and retail space ready in September.
(716) Food and Sport restaurant will be located at Scott and Washington streets and a Tim Hortons will occupy space at Main and Scott. Tenants for the retail space along Main Street have not been announced.
The full-service, 205-room Marriott Buffalo HARBORCENTER is rising at the Scott and Main street intersection. Crews have six more floors to pour on the tower. It will be operated by Shaner Hotels and will open next spring.
Populous is the architect for the project, with GSB serving as associate hotel architect, and Mortenson Construction serving as construction manager.
HARBORCENTER is expected to draw more than 500,000 people to downtown Buffalo annually. The National Hockey League and the Buffalo Sabres announced earlier this week that the NHL Combine will move to First Niagara Center and HARBORCENTER in 2015 and 2016. The event, which has taken place in Toronto in previous years, showcases the top draft-eligible prospects from North America and Europe heading into the NHL Draft.
