You have the chance to see some of Buffalo’s funniest comedians this Friday at the Alt Theatre. Tickets are $10 pre-sale, and $15 at the door. Don’t miss your chance to say “I saw him/her BEFORE he/she was famous!” Matt Bergman and Kristen Becker are set to co-headline the 8 and 10 pm shows, with myself as a feature act and Mark Ciemcioch (CHIM-chuck) will be your host.
Recently featured in the Gusto, Matt Bergman began stand-up at age 18. It didn’t take long for him to get noticed, and he quickly moved out of open-mic nights and into paying gigs at clubs and colleges. In just a few years, Matt opened for Jeffrey Ross, Bill Burr and Dave Attell (at UB’s Center for the Performing Arts), and was recently featured on Mike Birbiglia’s Comedy Central Live tour. Matt tours the United States and Canada to rave reviews.
Kristen Becker started stand-up comedy 8 years ago in Toronto and quickly began touring the continent performing and producing shows. She has opened for national acts such as Doug Stanhope, Last Comic Standing winner Josh Blue, and Buffalo’s own Ani Difranco. She was recently named America’s 8th funniest lesbian comic by Curve magazine, tied with actress Lily Tomlin. Becker has been a performer with local burlesque troupe The Stripteasers. 3 years ago, she created Doin’ Time open mic comedy night at Nietzsche’s, through which many Buffalo comedians have gotten their start, and she hosts when she is not touring.
Get your tickets for this Friday’s hilarious shows, as the Alt expects to sell-out.
