The Rotary Club of Buffalo 5th annual Duck Derby is on Sunday, August 11 at Canalside in Buffalo. This event is free and family-friendly. The feathered festivities commence at 11:30 AM; race time is 2:00 PM.
Ducks are available for a $5 donation (or 6 ducks for $25), the highly-trained rubber ducks will be launched at Canalside, from the bridge located next to Explore & More Children’s Museum. Plan to hop on the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s Library on Wheels bookmobile starting at 11:30 AM.
Adopt in advance of the Duck Derby at www.buffaloduckderby.com or by visiting any City of Buffalo branch of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries. Ducks will also be available on race day. Those who adopt ducks will be eligible for three prizes: $125 for first place; $100 for second place and $50 for third place (do not have to be present to win).
Duck Derby proceeds will benefit the Buffalo Rotary Foundation and its community grants to nonprofit organizations such as Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) , Young Audiences, PATH Inc. (People Against Trafficking Humans), Olmsted Center for Sight, Food Bank of WNY, Locust Street Arts Center, and the Rotary Reads – Kids Clubs, which will be located in the eight City of Buffalo public library branches. These spaces will encourage reading, discovery and curiosity in children, supplementing the school experience and promoting life-long learning.
The Rotary Club of Buffalo is made up of dedicated neighbors, community and business leaders committed to making Western New York a better place to live.
