In 2019, National Day of Unplugging is asking that you host an event at your business, your school, in your neighborhood, or anywhere else that you can encourage people to disconnect from technology for one day. Even if you can’t host an event, please be sure to put the date of March 1-2 on your calendar. This is the time period that the movement is asking everybody to put away their cell phones, their computers, TVs, and ever other electronic gadget that has come to be a way of life for most of us.
It’s as easy as unplugging for 24 hours. During that time, you can reconnect, in person, with family and friends – or spend time cooking, playing the guitar, or taking a walk with your dog. Consider visiting the Albright-Knox on that day, or anywhere else that you find inspirational. These types of immersive experiences will help to take your mind off the gadgets.
Just remember, unplugging for 24 hours might sound easy, but it’s not. Be sure to unplug with others around you, so that you’re not temped to check in on Instagram, or on emails and texts, or anything else that might trigger you to pick up an electronic device.
