As a “thank you”, a friend of mine sent me a zen tealight candle stand from a business that purports to be super earth conscious. While I love the thought, and the gift, I was amazed that this type of company would load the packing box with Styrofoam peanuts.
When I first opened the box I was not exactly surprised to find the environmentally unfriendly packing elements, until I realized what sort of business sent it. Upon opening a leaflet, which was essentially a small catalog, there were all sorts of products designed to provide help with healing the body, mind, and soul through meditation. There were some very interesting items, but after seeing the way that they are packaged, I would never order anything from this business.
To think, in this day and age, even businesses that sell earth and body conscious products doesn’t understand the environmental implications of Styrofoam packing materials.
Over the holidays, pay attention to which companies actually go out of their way to package their products with green materials. Keep note of those companies, and support them the next time that you are looking to make a purchase.
