Aqueous, the Buffalo groovy jam-rock quartet, played their second show of their 2018 New Year’s run at Town Ballroom Monday night and treated fans to what may have been their best live set ever. Coming on the heels of the release of their new album ‘Color Wheel’ and a West Coast tour, the band played a rousing concert that showcased their songwriting skill, musical aptitude and crowd pleasing ability. “Realize Your Light” was dedicated to a group of fans who had recently lost a friend of theirs. The song moved me to tears and I didn’t know why, but I found out the next morning that one of my best friends had passed away on Sunday and I realized why I was bawling. I didn’t know it at the time, but that song now will forever remind me of my friend and I will never forget this show.
At midnight, confetti blasters were launched and four giant inflated whales were thrown into the crowd for people to bounce as they kissed their lovers to a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Truckin”.
They finished the encore and the night with “Hey Jude”, the classic Beatles song that had everyone in the crowd arm in arm swaying and singing the chorus. We could all feel the love, and it is an amazing experience seeing these hometown guys play here. They truly embody Buffalove.
