We tend to get excited when we see glass going up on a development project. That said, the installation of all fifty-eight curved glass façade on the north face of the 8,500 SF Lipsey Architecture Center’s new pavilion is in a league of its own. Each of the 18 feet tall glass panels now comes together as a brilliant glass wall.
Designed by Boston-based Höweler + Yoon Architecture, this structure is nothing short of magnificent. The architects describe the scalloped panels as an “optical device” that plays off the circa-1875 kitchen building next door.

The dramatic new shiny glass panels make a huge statement when juxtaposed with their surroundings.
Once complete, the new addition – set to open in summer 2027 – will perform as a museum and visitor hub, celebrating the architectural legacy of Buffalo.
The nonprofit Lipsey Architecture Center was founded in 2007 with a lead gift from the late Buffalo News publisher Stanford Lipsey and his wife, Judi. Its goal is to draw more cultural tourists to Buffalo’s Cultural Corridor, alongside neighbors like the Buffalo AKG Art Museum and the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
