It’s that spooky time of year. And that means that people who love Halloween are on the hunt for all sorts of ghoulish things to do.
Similar to how Comic Con has captured the imaginations of pop culture fans, the annual Horror Garage Sale is considered a cult horror convention that features special guests, panel discussions and vendors, free screenings (including the Francis Bacon Experiment’s live “shadowcast” of The Rocky Horror Picture Show), and afterparties.
Presented by Silk Screams T-Shirts, the Horror Garage Sale will once again be held at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara, 1340 Millersport Highway in Amherst from Friday, October 9th to Sunday, October 11th. Yup, due to last year’s overwhelming success, this year the event will take place over the course of three days.
Headliners include special make-up effects maestro Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow), actors William Ragsdale (Fright Night) and Debbie Rochon (Tromeo and Juliet), musician Dan Lilker from Anthrax, and artist “Ghoulish” Gary Pullin, best known for his Rue Morgue magazine covers.

Additional cult film guests include actor Carl Yorke (Cannibal Holocaust) and Mark Soper (Blood Rage), making his first convention appearance. Local horror entertainment is represented by filmmaker and author Gregory Lamberson (Slime City Massacre, Johnny Gruesome), the stars of Off Beat Cinema and sculptor/author “Monster” Matt Patterson.
Plenty of vendors will also be on hand, including specialty distributor Vinnegar Syndrome, Diabolik DVD and the Screening Room. For a full list of guests and vendors, and a schedule of panels and attractions, visit www.horrorgaragesale.net.
Show hours are 5pm – 10pm Friday, 11am – 7pm Saturday, and 11am – 5pm on Sunday. Admission is only $7 per day until one hour before showtime, and then it’s $10 at the door (kids under 12 get in for free).
A full weekend pass is $20 and permits entry one hour early on Friday and Saturday.
