On Friday, September 11, Council President Joel Feroleto, with support from the Hertel Business Association, will host a live music rally event in response to the fierce flash flooding that occurred on Hertel Avenue, the evening of Thursday, September 3.
“We’re getting people out to support the businesses that were adversely affected by the flooding,” said Councilmember Feroleto. “We’re asking the community to come watch the musicians and bands that will be playing in front of Hertel businesses between Delaware and Parkside. These businesses are the backbone of our community. Dozens of shops and restaurants were impacted, with millions of dollars of damage, including nearby residences. Business owners have been spending time and money dealing with the massive cleanup and lost inventory. We hope that people stop by between 5pm and 8pm, to listen to some great live music, and then stop into the businesses. I want to thank the musicians and bands for coming together so quickly, and Josh Mullin from Jack Rabbit on Elmwood, who stepped up to help his Hertel neighbors.”
“I really appreciate Councilmember Feroleto for putting this all together,” said Drew Graziadei, owner of Sterling Place Tavern. “The water in my basement was knee-deep, and caused a lot of damage. We’re hoping to get some good foot traffic on Friday evening, to help offset the losses that we have incurred. Hopefully it’s a packed house!”
“The Hertel Business Association is proud to come together with our community to host this night out in support of the businesses along Hertel Avenue that were impacted by last Thursday’s devastating flooding,” said Judy Porto-Fiorella, President of the Hertel Business Association. “Our local businesses are the heart of Hertel Avenue, and many of our neighbors are facing unexpected damage, cleanup, and financial challenges. Now more than ever, they need our community’s support.”
The musician and band line-up for the event is as follows:
- Tj Zindle
- Grace Lougen
- Zak Ward
- Steven Padin
- Bryan Williams
- Michael Nanula
- DJ Dovey
- Jack Civiletto
- Barroom Buzzards
Bands will be playing outside the businesses on Hertel from 5pm to 8pm.
