Buffalo is home to a few different amateur and professional camera clubs, meetup groups, organizations, and even a professional trade association. Each of these groups offers photographers a chance to demonstrate their prowess, learn the ins and outs of shooting, and connecting with others who are passionate about the hobby.
Now, the Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art (BICA) has thrown its hat into the ring, by announcing the formation of Photo Club.
“Photo Club is a free, year-long program for people interested in making, looking at, and thinking through photography. Led by artist and educator Nando Alvarez-Perez, the group will meet on Saturdays from September 2026 through May 2027, with a public presentation in June. Meetings will move between making photographs, developing technical skills, reading and discussion, looking closely at photographs, and group critique. No particular level of photographic experience is required.” – BICA
