Located inside what was once a car wash and auto shop at 2813 Niagara Street in Riverside, Primeval Forest Nursery is now a space dedicated to various methods of plant propagation. The women-owned nursery not only sells plants (indigenous trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers aimed at supporting pollinators and restoring local ecosystems), it also helps people to better understand the importance of regenerative practices and land stewardship.

- Native Focus: They focus on native keystone species, sedges, and spring ephemerals tailored to WNY conditions.
- Services: They provide commercial/residential garden consultations (in-person or virtual) and design, focusing on “right plant, right place.”
- Regenerative Practices: The nursery emphasizes land stewardship and rarely uses chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
- Plant Inventory: Known for a high-quality selection of native plants that can be hard to find elsewhere.
At the end of the day, Primeval Forest Nursery’s main goal is to reestablish and preserve the keystone plant species that once flourished in Western New York. Over the years, we have replaced our indigenous greenery with plant species that our not beneficial to our local environs. By restoring the natural flora to our yards, we are able to better sustain the fauna – pollinators, birds, insects, etc., that rely on the native plants for sustenance. These restorative steps help to rebuild resilient ecosystems that rely on Mother Nature, instead of harmful chemicals.
Other services provided by Primeval Forest Nursery include landscape design plans, garden consultations, a pot exchange program, classes, tree planting services, and a curated plant barter system.
A soft opening will be held on Wednesday April 1, aimed to introduce plant and garden lovers to this unique native plant resource.
“Spring has sprung and the plants are slowly waking up but we are hustling! We will be open starting Wednesday April 1st (10am -2pm). Be mindful we do not overwinter in a greenhouse and don’t rush our plants. They come up when they are ready but they are from here and are used to our cold and unpredictable springs.
