The Northeast made up more than half of the top 10 hottest metros for 2026
Buffalo’s housing market continues to impress, as bidding wars are anticipated to continue well into the future, according to a recent article in Business Insider. The news publication published this article after Zillow ranked Buffalo as the hottest housing market, again. Meanwhile, other news sources are citing Buffalo as being a climate haven, which could result in the perfect storm for future housing initiatives.
While housing values are below the other top housing markets, that affordability is being used to the city’s advantage. At this point, more than ever, investors and home builders should concentrate on building more housing on the city’s East Side, where vacant properties are abundant. And instead of erecting masses of cheaply built housing, there should be a plan in place that reevaluates the wants and needs of the neighborhoods, and the city as a whole.
What Zillow defines as “hot” doesn’t just measure where homes are selling the fastest, but also how often sellers are forced to cut prices, how many homes sell over the asking price, and where demand outpaces supply.
