Buffalo’s Big Big Table Community Café keep chugging along. Four years in, the unique pay-as-you-can lunchtime restaurant located on the lower West Side continues to dish out some of the best farm-to-table lunches in the land. Designed as a nonprofit community café, Big Big Table is an affordable way for everyone – no matter the size of their wallet or purse – to enjoy delicious, wholesome food in a welcoming space.
Not only is Big Big Table celebrating its four year anniversary on October 11, it’s also celebrating the arrival of Karl Johnston as their inaugural executive director. According to the organization, Karl brings executive culinary leadership, supervisory experience, and has been involved with Big Big Table over the past 5 years, most recently as a board member. Along with Johnston, Big Big Table welcomes new staff team members includes Chef Steven Dominguez, Volunteer and Communications Manager Morgan Stewart, and Guest Experience Coordinator Terrel Chambers.
“October 11th marks Big Big Table’s opening anniversary. The community is invited to celebrate this milestone at the upcoming Big Big Bash event, Friday October 17th at Riff City Social. This is a ticketed event, raising funds to support Big Big Table’s mission while celebrating its diverse community. The evening will feature appetizers by Riff City Social, artisan Blue Table chocolates, games with prizes, basket raffle, live fusion jazz music performed by Luminous, and the chance to win a football signed by Bills player #47 Christian Benford.” – Big Big table
All are welcome to join the communal dining experience, weekdays 11am – 2:30pm, at the corner of Hudson and West. The innovative pay-as-you-can model allows for guests to participate for a meal with a monetary donation, in-kind donation, or by donating their time. vegetarian and vegan friendly options.
