The long awaited opening of Streetlight Brasserie is finally over. Danny Lettieri (co-owner of Savoy in Allentown) is now in business, as he launches his bold vision for his contemporary kitchen, bakery, cocktail lounge and bar.
In a previous article, Lettieri told me, “It will be fully operational whenever it’s open. There will be a full kitchen, bakery, cocktail lounge and bar. People will be able to have breakfast and coffee at the bar in the morning, or at the stools in the window during the day, or at the couch seating in the evening. We can accommodate the solo customer or large format meals. The menu will be the same all day long. Customers can get blueberry pancakes at 10am, or 1am. We will have high-end steaks, fish, pasta, chicken and waffles… all served with our fresh baked goods.”
It is for all of those aforementioned reasons, why so many people have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Streetlight Brasserie.
I stopped in last evening to observe the newly renovated restaurant and was quite pleased with what I found. Lettieri made for a great host, as he greeted customers at the front door, many of whom had come from the sensational Party on Pearl event that took place around the corner at 500 Pearl. It’s one of the reasons that so many people were dressed to up in party attire. It also made for a captivating evening, with the clientele perfectly suited for the space.

At the same time, Streetlight Brasserie can be as casual as you want it, or as over the top as you want it. One thing is for certain – no matter what reason you end up at the establishment, you’re going to be happy that you’re there. Streetlight Brasserie is what you make of it – a café, a restaurant, a cocktail lounge, a place to hang with friends, or a place to dine solo at the bar. There’s so much to take in, visually speaking, and even more to explore on the culinary and cocktail side of the business.
Judging by the reaction of the crowd last evening, Lettieri has another big hit on his hands. And this time, it’s good for the city, and for downtown. Downtown Buffalo really, really needed a place like this – a place that’s a diner one minute, and an elegant restaurant the next… all depending on the time of day and the fluctuating customers that frequent it. I see this place morphing day to day, and even throughout the day. There will be a wide range of customers who will seek it out for all sorts of reasons. That’s why I can’t wait to go back in the morning, when the bread is being baked and the coffee is being brewed. The sights, the smells – it all spells out the aromatic reawakening of a corner that has been shuttered for far too long.
