Following is an interview with Cristy Karinna Orozco, founder of Every Body Plus. Cristy is the owner of Everybody Plus, located at 149 Swan Street (The Hub).
Was this business established previous to opening at this location?
The previous business in this location was Sweat 716, under different ownership. In September 2022, I acquired the business because I envisioned taking it to a new level and my dream has always been to own a studio. In May 2023, I rebranded it as Every Body Plus, and I am proud to be the first and only Latina woman-owned fitness and health studio in downtown Buffalo NY.
What is your background in fitness?
Fitness is a part of finding yourself, connection, and lifelong health in body and mind. I previously lost over 100 pounds through fitness and healthy eating after going through a period of deep depression, so I know what it is to struggle with weight and experience eating disorders. My life experience helps me motivate students to succeed because I have also been there.
I am fluent in English and Spanish and have been an instructor for over ten years. I am Group Fitness Certified with numerous certifications, including Barre Intensity, Stages cycling, and her entire team is CPR AED certified. I always take new classes and look for ways to keep them fun. My passion is connecting with my members and seeing how movement transforms their lives.
My first love in fitness was indoor cycling (after dancing to Latin music, of course). I was instantly hooked when I took my first “spin” class in 2006. The instructor choreographed the song SOS by Rihanna and did figure 8’s and Tapbacks on the bike. It was like a party. I knew then that’s exactly what I wanted to do.
Is this your first location?
Yes. Currently, our first location for Every Body Plus is in the center of the city, downtown Buffalo. We are building our brand with plans to expand in WNY and, hopefully, beyond.
What are the fitness routines?
Every Body Plus specializes in fun fitness for all bodies, offering a variety of class types that are a great workout with something for everyone. We make each our own, so your experience is never traditional or standard. Our studio favorites are Barre, Pilates, Zumba, Pole, Cycling, Mobility, and Bootcamps. Our members love that we regularly offer popups and events where they can try new classes like Yoga, Buti Yoga, and choreographed dance. We also provide Wellness Check-ins, a professional review of your health and lifestyle goals, as a great way to get started.

What is the essence of the business?
Our name, Every Body Plus, and Tagline, Better Together Fitness Classes, tell the story of what sets us apart. Every Body Plus specializes in fun classes for all bodies and offers a variety of different types that are a great workout with something for everyone. While Pole, Step, Spin, and Barre are the favorite classes on the schedule, we make each unique. Best of all, we are committed to an affordable membership where you feel good as your music pumps energy into you.
We’re proud to represent real life by embracing diversity and inclusivity in every aspect of our brand, including our trainers. You’ll notice that our trainers come in all shapes and sizes, reflecting the reality that everybody is unique. Who is your target customer?
Our focus is building a community of all genders and body types that love to have fun, prioritize healthy, and want a comfortable, welcoming space where they do not feel judged. We know many people work from home and want an option to stay active and develop friendships. We seek to be an active part of a downtown ecosystem where members working at local organizations can use Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) accounts for healthy classes, and businesses can purchase packages to offer member discounts/paid annual memberships as employee incentives.
What do you like about the neighborhood and the building?
Buffalo is the City of Good Neighbors, and we are proud to be located in its heart, Downtown Buffalo. The building has character and is an upscale, boutique, and urban environment that perfectly matches our brands. The two-story studio is equipped with full locker rooms offering private showers and even an in-house spa. We hope to welcome more members of the downtown business community to give an important new option to stay active and have fun near where you work.
What is the most unique aspect of Every Body Plus?
We are not an impersonal, massive gym but a like-minded community that feels like you are working out with friends. It is your workout, and you can make it as you want. We have a comprehensive selection of classes, such as Barre, Pilates, Zumba, Cycling, Mobility, and Pole, all in one place. Our members tell us that they would have to have multiple memberships or specialty studios to access these classes. We also have popups and events to continue giving members a chance to try out new fitness classes and keep their workouts fresh and fun. Stay tuned as more will be announced soon.

I am so proud to be the only Latina woman-owned fitness and health studio in Buffalo and grateful the Mayor attended our ribbon cutting at our launch on Saturday, May 6. The community’s support has been outstanding, and I look forward to growing together.
