Year after year, Grant Street qualifies as one of the most littered streets in all of Buffalo. West Ferry (around Grant Street) is deemed another trash offender.
Thankfully, there have been a number of spring cleanup efforts that have helped to spruce up Grant Street, so that the trash and litter is tamed before it gets too out of control to handle at a later date.
This spring, Assemblymember Jon D. Rivera – along with WNY Trash Mob, Community Canvases, and the West Side Taxpayers and Business Association – is hosting a Grant Street Cleanup! on Saturday, May 20, from 10 am to 1 pm.
This is the perfect chance to give back to a community that needs some help. Grab some friends and/or family members and spend some time making a difference on the West Side. Heck, maybe a faction of do-gooders wants to extend the cleanup effort to West Ferry?
Regardless of where you are cleaning, or what you are cleaning, be sure to meet at Assemblymember Jon D. Rivera’s office at 65 Grant Street, Buffalo, NY 14213 at 10am. Coffee, donuts, water, and a pizza lunch will be provided for all volunteers. All tools and supplies will be provided, thanks to the WNY Tool Library.
This is certainly a community effort, taking place along a street that is still in the midst of realizing its full potential.
