Marinette Kozlow, owner and operator of Inspired Buffalo LLC, recently introduced a multicultural flag design that she feels represents Buffalo and its immigrant and refugee communities. Kozlow herself immigrated to the USA from Lebanon with her family before her first birthday, and understands what it means to be a foreigner in a strange new land. At the same time, she and her family were given virtually limitless opportunities to excel in their new homeland, which is why she feels that this symbolic flag design is so important, especially these days as she witnesses a new generation of refugees calling this city “home.”
“Be You Be United is partnering with Jewish Family Services of WNY (JFS) during the month of April to help raise money for their Refugee Services programming! For every item purchased, 20% of the proceeds will be donated to JFS to help offset the costs of housing and living expenses for newly arrived refugees who are resettling in our community.“
Inspired Buffalo is located in Black Rock – a culturally diverse neighborhood where Kozlow lives and works. Black Rock is where she draws inspiration for her designs, via the kaleidoscope of nationalities that she proudly calls neighbors.
